Nepal is facing one of the deadliest natural disasters in its recent history after catastrophic flash flooding near the Nepal-Tibet border, believed to have been triggered by a glacier collapse and resulting landslide on August 26, 2026. Torrents of water, mud, and debris destroyed communities, roads, bridges, and critical infrastructure across the affected region.

CURRENT SITUATION:

As of September 3, 2026, authorities have confirmed 1,252 deaths and 4,216 people missing in Nepal, while rescue crews continue searching for survivors in difficult and remote terrain. The tragedy has intensified concerns about the growing risks that climate change may pose to the fragile Himalayan environment.
