Hi Friends, it's nice to be with you.

I was asked to talk a little bit about leadership and what's most important today. You know if you’ve been around me very long or especially around the ministry of A3, you know that we have one thing that’s most pivotal in leadership, and that is our walk with God.

"Walking with God is the single most important thing in your leadership today."

Walking with God is the single most important thing in your leadership today. As a spiritual leader, there’s nothing that is more important than the depth of that walk. And I know it sort of sounds like a no-brainer—like Leadership 101—but you’d be surprised at how many people forget this single most important thing.

So having a depth of your walk with Christ and the overflow out of that will be crucial for your leadership. It will impact the way you lead, the way you treat others, and it’ll impact your focus.

Let me give you a couple of examples. One, the depth you carry into leadership will be transformed by your daily communion with Jesus, because he’ll be filling you.

Secondly, how you treat others. We’re often tempted to do selfish things or maybe even evil things periodically, but the way you treat your spouse or the way you treat your kids matters. The way you treat others in your congregation or business matters. So your character formation is most formed by that walk with God. As God changes you, you become a changed person.

And then finally, your mission—what’s your purpose in life—and Jesus helps us keep centered on what’s most important and that is the reproduction of other leaders that are following him—disciplemaking leaders.

So if I had one thing to advise you on today, it is to cultivate a deep walk with God, because from there, you can change the world.
