"Who does this?"
Andreas Thapa from Nepal shared this with me thanking me for the way the A3 family has rallied around their family. His mom, Sareeta, has been directing the ministry of A3/Nepal from its beginning and sadly, the last few years, she’s been battling ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).
Andreas was astonished with all the help that has come their way. Whether it be our staff assisting with all their doctors visits in the US or getting them much needed supplies and helpful technology to Nepal or simply funding and friendship with visits with their family, it blew him away.
Not long ago, our board chair Phil Foxwell, in devotions are our annual summit shared the Japanese word Tomoni to describe the ministry of A3.
と共に – meaning “together” and “with”
This core value of A3 comes from heritage of doing ministry together, side-by-side. In our early days, we had a program called Scrum Dendo which combines the Japanese word for evangelism with the rugby term of grouping up. From day one, A3 has been in ministry Together!
We call this core value: LIVE Community! And, our operating principle comes from Jesus:
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples if you love one another.
— John 13:34-35
Indeed, Andreas was right. It’s rare to see this kind of love expressed in our increasingly tribal, polarized world. Yet, this is Jesus command!
Thus, A3 LIVES Community. We are in life and ministry together: Tomoni!
I pray this Christmas season, you experience this love with friends and/or family. And, thank you for being Tomoni with us as we serve Jesus together.
Tomoni with Christ,
Joe Handley
