Recurring Donor Info

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO A3 DONORS

A3 has moved to a new donor platform called Virtuous! Our existing donor platform was shut down for a week to prepare for the new platform launching the week of March 27-31, 2023. We are sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused you.

Existing donor information will be transferred. However, for security reasons, banking and credit card data will not be brought over. Therefore, if you have a recurring donation to A3 (via direct debit or credit card), you will need to re-establish your recurring donation on the Virtuous platform starting in April 2023.

FOR ONLINE DONATIONS:

  1. Online donations through March 20, 2023 were processed through our previous donation platform before being taken offline March 21.
  2. Our new online giving portal is being relaunched the week of March 27-31, 2023 with new capabilities, including an optional account to view/manage gifts online.
  3. We have begun rolling out new donation forms for PROJECTS & MISSIONARIES which work well on computers, but not on mobile devices yet. We will continue to rollout more features in the coming days.

FOR RECURRING DONATIONS:

Certain donors will be impacted immediately. If you are in the impacted group that is migrating in April, you should have received an email on March 21, 2023 and a hard copy letter a few days later with additional action steps. If you did get this communication, . . .

Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience. We value your data and have determined it was more secure not to transfer your credit card information during the migration.

  1. March gifts were processed as usual under our old platform but then will came to an end.
  2. After the online giving portal is restored the week of March 27, 2023, donors who would like to continue their automated donations will need to login to the new giving portal and set up their recurring donation(s) on the new platform. You can do this starting in April to ensure no gap in your recurring donation.

Furthermore, we are confident that the new online donation platform will provide a better donor/partner experience compared to our old online platform. In addition, we will save quite a bit by making this switch. Thank you for your understanding. We appreciate your partnership!

Background

Eriko grew up in Miyagi, Japan and came to Christ in high school. John was born Upland, CA and saved while attending college in Tokyo. John was called into full-time ministry while interpreting a message from English into Japanese as a short-term missionary in 1979.  John and Eriko were married in 1981 and have four adult children and two grandchildren. The Houlettes were appointed with A3 in July 2013.

Ministry Experience

Prior to joining A3/SIM, the Houlettes served faithfully for thirty years in Japan with WorldVenture. They planted Nishitama Baptist Church in Tachikawa, Saikyo Hope Chapel in Toda and Denen Grace Chapel in Kawasaki where many became Christ followers. Two of the churches have national pastors and are planting daughter churches. John and Eriko invested in field leadership and collaborated to develop a church planting strategy with the Japanese national church.

Since 2011, John has been the director of Three Stream Ministries (TSM) providing clergy care and disaster response chaplaincy training for the church in Japan. After Japan’s triple disaster, he spearheaded WorldVenture’s disaster relief strategy and along with Eriko worked closely with A3 to provide Oasis Retreats for pastors.  Eriko has served on the board of directors of the Christian Academy in Japan and at Wheelchairs of Hope.

Education

John graduated from The Middlebury Institute of International Studies, PacRim Christian University and Fuller Seminary. He completed his Doctor of Ministry degree at Bethel Seminary in Congregational and Family Care in 2015. Eriko is a graduate of the Sendai Baptist Seminary and Wellesley College. She completed a master’s degree at the Harvard Graduate School of Education in Human Development and Psychology in 2014.

Current and Future Ministry

The Houlettes partner with Hokushin Calvary Church in Fukushima city, assisting the church in leader development and church planting.  John provides clergy care and leadership training in Japan and Greater Asia.

Eriko works as an educational resource consultant through Japanese language teaching and child safety training.

Vision

My vision is to see vibrant communities of servant leaders in Japan and Greater Asia empowering their peers to be whole, holy and missional.
