Happy New Year, Everyone!
2018 is a big year for A3. We just completed our Jubilee Celebration in 2017 and one of the signature focal points of 2018 is sustainability.
Our national directors meeting spent an entire four days focused on the topic and built upon the theory we’ve been pursuing for many years. For quite some time, we defined sustainability to include the following:
- Local Leadership
- Local faculty
- Local resources
This time the team was led by the leaders from our most challenged countries financially. They had a brilliant addition. They said,
“We won’t get anywhere unless there is ownership!”
So, we add Local Ownership to the list above. Today, our teams are setting thing in motion to help us move toward more sustainable systems.
I was particularly excited when I taught in Cambodia last month. They showed me our Essence document completely translated into their local language, Khmer. See copies of that document here! (And you can read the English versions at the bottom.)
And, they showed me a receipt from one of the participants. They are now charging a nominal fee to participate in the graduation. You’ll see that receipt here.
We don’t anticipate seeing A3 become completely sustainable in the near future, and we always prefer to have interdependency in mission overall, but we are well on our way on the road toward sustainability.
Praise God with me… And, pray for us as we seek to see sustainable systems to develop leaders in Asia.
