Over Christmas break my father told me a story that I thought would be worth sharing.
When I was about five years old, my parents brought in a specialist to help me with reading. She was a wonderful tutor who was friendly and quite helpful. One day, my father noticed that she seemed rather nervous so he asked how she was doing. She shared some of her concerns and my father asked, “Would you like to hear how I deal with anxiety?” She said, “Sure, I would love to.”
My father shared about his relationship with Christ and how that made a difference in his life. He noted that he had a relationship with Jesus and that by taking things to him, God would give him peace.
He said, “You too can have this peace in your life.”
My tutor asked, “How?”
My father went on to share about having faith in Christ and asked her if she was interested in this type of faith. She answered, “No thanks. I think I’ll stick with counting my beads.”
Years later, my tutor contacted my father. She had moved thousands of miles away. She called my dad and said, “Do you remember sharing with me about how you found peace? Well, I wanted you to know that I have come to the same faith and have accepted Christ into my life. Thank you for sharing with me so many years ago.”
Often, all we need to do is share how Jesus gives us hope and it plants seeds that can make a powerful impact. How have you planted a few seeds this year? I’d love to hear your story! Email me at
