The A3 Global Leaders’ Summit was a powerful gathering of Christ-like Community. As you have likely heard, one of our core values is that we LIVE Community!
Meng Aun Hour, from Cambodia, felt it was one of our best gatherings ever. Among Meng's highlights were the deep fellowship, renewing downtime, delicious food, scenic venue, and especially the chance to process things together.
Generations Working Together
We focused on generational renewal and raising up younger leaders for the future of the Church around the world as well as the future of our mission. Meng especially enjoyed watching the team from Japan working together. Three or four generations were working together in harmony all week and included our team leader from North America for our A3 Missional Partners.
In addition, Meng said that in Cambodia, senior leaders rarely let younger leaders lead. He was so impressed watching Doug Birdsall support me as a younger leader in our movement. If you don’t know Doug was my predecessor and he’s one of my biggest cheerleaders. Doug sat at the tables all week, mentoring, and encouraging leaders without needing to be on the platform.
Ministering to One Another
Beyond all this, one of our couples has been through the worst of crises, with a military coup in their country followed by their child being in prison for months, tortured for his faith and work. They finally left the country, and are safe, but the wife has not slept since the coup began. This week, she told me how she felt released and free: she slept for the first time in well over a year and she even participated in some of our group worship and dancing.
I praise God for this rich community. As our team interviewed us I was asked to share one sentence that describes who we are and I said something like “A3 is a powerful, Christ-like, caring community”. I went on to say that we are a “Family”. I praise God for the 50+ people who came this week and those unable to attend. It is this rich Christ-like community, a powerful family of God, that is seeing nations changed around the world.
