Last week I attended a gathering of North American pastors who were trying to discern the American Church’s Role in World Evangelism today. We listened to Global Leaders from the Majority World and responded through dialog and discussion. All of this was a part of preparing ourselves for the next Lausanne meeting in Cape Town 2010.
A key word for us throughout the process was the word “Humility” and it struck me how critical this is for ministry. Throughout scripture the Lord lifts up the humble and encourages humility as an important character trait.
As I sat through the meetings...
I was reminded of the humility displayed through our partners and missionaries that I have been meeting the last few months. While in some ways it’s an oxymoron to use the word “proud” in thinking through ministry, I was in a sense proud of the humility displayed through our A3 family.
God is raising up a generation of humble Christ followers as leaders in His church throughout Asia and in this process He is facilitating growth in us (in me) as well.
May we all model that which the Lord honors so much... He humbled himself, taking the form of a man... May we do the same as we serve and lead.
