Friends of Asian Access,
I am thrilled to announce today that Asian Access has a new name. I have been waiting a long time to tell you, and I have simply been bursting to get this out there!
February 3 (2.3.23) is the day we have targeted to share the news of the ministry's expansion which is also driving the moment for a new name for the organization. I think you'll agree it's a wonderful connection to the past and a bridge to the next era of ministry to which we're called. Stay tuned for this exciting news!
This was the most encouraging Japan National Pastors’ Conference I remember in my 14 years with A3.
The theme as set by Pastor Yoshiya Hari, A3/Japan National Director, was “From 2020 to 2030” and Pastor Shinji Takita’s words captured it best:
Dear Family and Friends,
Joy to the World… This season is one giving us pause to reflect on the most important gift the world has ever seen: the Lord has come!

Andreas Thapa from Nepal shared this with me thanking me for the way the A3 family has rallied around their family. His mom, Sareeta, has been directing the ministry of A3/Nepal from its beginning and sadly, the last few years, she’s been battling ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).

Ophelia De Visser is one of the unsung heroes of the A3 family. She was the solid, steady support behind her well-known and renowned family, ensuring they were grounded while they served Christ on a national and global scale.
The world went through some monumental shifts during my tenure in mission leadership. While many had been talking about partnership and collaboration, as well as paternalism and colonialism for many years, it was during early in my 30 years of ministry that major changes were burgeoning in many ways. Of course, the last few years this has accelerated on many fronts making these issues of critical importance.

Recently I came across a book that caught me by surprise. Retired Bishop Hwa Yung wrote an excellent critique of the modern ‘leadership’ popularity within the Global Church and World Mission: Leadership or Servanthood?: Walking in the Steps of Jesus.
I’m delighted to welcome my friend, Patrick Fung, to the A3 council of reference. Patrick is a seasoned mission leader who started as a medical doctor in mission and then moved toward mission leadership through OMF. Today he leads one of the most historic missions, founded by Hudson Taylor originally known as the China Inland Mission.
