Here's my latest videolog from my Japan trip where I attended the national pastors' gathering in Shizuoka.
Enjoy!

Almost every time I walk into our Glendora office, I’m quickly greeted by this wonderful phrase. No matter how often I make it up there, Ellen Hale greets me in the sweetest possible way. It’s as if I’m the surprise of her life every time I show up and the sense of joy she embodies is immense ...
A Brief Report from the Fall Conference for A3 Church Planters
Silk and I just returned from the Fall Conference and thoroughly enjoyed our time with our church multiplication teams! What a creative group we have who are sold out to the cause of Christ across Japan! We had so much fun together – it was ...
“And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.”
|— 2 Timothy 2:2 (NIV)
This verse has captured my attention for many years as I see it for my life’s call... Raising up a new generation of leaders to influence the world for Christ...
Last week I attended a gathering of North American pastors who were trying to discern the American Church’s Role in World Evangelism today. We listened to Global Leaders from the Majority World and responded through dialog and discussion. All of this was a part of preparing ourselves for the next Lausanne meeting in Cape Town 2010.
While in Cambodia...
I asked Dr. Perry Bowers why he would take a few weeks of his time to come to Cambodia to train only 12 pastors when he could be training thousands of pastors in other settings.
His answer? ...
Have you ever had horse's milk? I have... Bruce Johnson and I had a wonderful trip to Asia recently and while in Mongolia our A3 leadership team took us on a fun little excursion about an hour or so outside of Ulaan Baatar. We entered a Gurt (Yurt for my Kazakh friends) and the hosts offered us a goblet of horse's milk as a special gift. So, each of us in turn, drank from the metal goblet. All I can say is "What an unusual taste!" ...
My eyes have been glued to the Olympics the last week or so. The opening ceremony, Michael Phelps and Dara Torres—all have captured my imagination. The opening was a fresh reminder of what heaven will look like (Revelation 5:9): people from every tongue and tribe worshipping God in unity. What a glorious day that will be! The Olympics sort of foreshadow that for me. Before Revelation 5:9 though, we have some ...
It is so exciting to now be up and running as the president of A3. My first few weeks have been inspiring as I’ve met many of our staff and partners in the US and Japan. I’m also looking forward to another upcoming trip at the end of August to Mongolia, Cambodia, Singapore and one additional country to continue meeting our team!
Networks that Multiply Churches
God is doing awesome things and it is such a joy to see what is happening. A few weeks ago. . .
A few weeks ago, I met Ken, the founder of our mission. What an amazing guy! Ken is a passionate follower of Christ who is a catalytic leader in God’s mission. What struck me more than anything was a story that arose during our conversation. When Ken began the work in Japan over 40 years ago, he asked a Japanese pastor about his vision. The pastor went on in great detail about his vision for multiplying churches around Tokyo. After sharing a good bit of time, the Japanese leader said, "I'm sorry, I've been talking all this time about my vision. Would you please tell me about your vision for the ministry?"
What a fantastic time I've had here in Japan the last couple weeks! I've traveled North to South and back again and met tons of wonderful pastors and our incredible A3 mission family. It’s been totally awesome! God is doing great things across the country; things that I had no idea were going on. . .
